DraftKings DFS Week 16

Yikes. Apologies to those followed my advice last week (along with many others that I listened to). I could only muster up a total of 112 points, well short of the 142 needed to cash last week. Let’s…

Using IOTA Wallet Saves You Time

When I first started using the IOTA Light Wallet I was a little confused. Many things I was used to doing with all my other crypto wallets like backing up wallet .dat files and exporting private-keys don’t really apply to IOTA wallets.

All you really need to create a new IOTA wallet is a random 81 character seed using only A-Z and the number 9. If you wanna be all techy here’s what you could type into your command line for each operating system and you’ll generate your new seed.

cat /dev/urandom |tr -dc A-Z9|head -c${1:-81}

At first glance, storing a 81 character password seems cumbersome, like most people I was used to creating some type of random 10–20 character password to log in to a wallet. This actually turns out to be a small speed bump and will save you time in the long run.

When you use IOTA Light Wallet to store you IOTA the only thing you need to store is your 81 character seed, that’s it! As long as you have this seed you can log in to your wallet from any computer anywhere on the planet. This means even if you lose or burn your computer, you’ll still have access to your wallet.

Really Really Freaking Secure!

I’m figuring you want more of an explanation about what the odds are of someone guessing or brute force hacking your seed? This is straight from the folks at IOTA:

So as long as you don’t share your seed with anyone, and back that thang up to multiple places, safe to say you’ll be ok ;)

Full Disclosure: I own some IOTA. I like IOTA. This is not intended to be investment advice. I’m not an investment advisor. This is just my thoughts and opinions. Do your own homework before you speculate in the crypto currency world.
