Have you ever felt ignored in meetings?

I am sure the answer from many of you (if not all) is YES!

The good news is that we all can easily contribute to change this. I’ll share some practical examples in a minute, but before that, I’d like to add a little bit of context to the subject.

Diversity (diversity, diversity….) is a hot topic and we have all heard about the benefits of working in a diverse environment. However, it’s important to remind ourselves that it must come hand in hand with inclusion. Only when we acknowledge our differences (or the diversity we bring to the table) and understand how to make sure everyone is and feels included, will we see the benefits.

“In an ideal meeting, all attendees participate, contributing diverse points of view and thinking together to reach new insight” Right… this time if I ask “Have you ever been in one of those meetings?” I am sure your answer is NO.

So… what can we do to work towards more effective/inclusive meetings:

Be inclusive, be happy :)
