Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick received endorsements, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party issued a statement after the arrest of New York Rep. Chris Collins & more

The Times

The Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association have endorsed U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.

“I am honored to have the support of Bucks and Montgomery County school teachers and educators. Ensuring that the families I represent have access to adequate public education has been and will remain a top priority for me. Elementary and high school education is the foundation upon which the rest of a young person’s accomplishments are built. This foundation must be built with enough fortitude to support success in all future endeavors. In order to guarantee this strong foundation for our children, we must support public school teachers and educators and empower them to do their jobs to the best of their abilities,” Fitzpatrick said.

The NEA Fund, which is the political action committee of the NEA, will recommend Fitzpatrick’s candidacy to its 1,895 members residing in the 1st Congressional District and urge them to take an active role in guaranteeing the success of his re-election efforts.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party last week issued a statement after the arrest of New York Rep. Chris Collins, who donated $3,000 to Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.

Collins was arrested by the FBI on insider trading and fraud charges. He had been investigated by the Office of Congressional Ethics.

“Brian Fitzpatrick pretends to care about honesty in our politics, but he’s just another swamp creature who is tied to the money of criminals, corrupt elected officials and special interests,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Brendan Welch. “The working families of Bucks County deserve a congressman who works for the people, not corrupt Washington officials and Trump lackeys who are more interested in their own checkbooks than the needs of working families.”

The Republican Party of Pennsylvania believes that former President Barack Obama did not endorse Scott Wallace, the Democratic candidate in the 1st Congressional District, because he is too extreme.

In a tweet, Obama endorsed dozens of Democrats running for Congress and state legislatures.

The state GOP points to the Wallace Global Fund’s support of several left-wing organizations.

Republican Party of Pennsylvania communications director Jason Gottesman said, “If Scott Wallace is too extreme to be endorsed by one of the most liberal presidents in this nation’s history, then he is definitely too extreme for the voters in Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District. Time and again, Scott Wallace has shown that his priorities are out of line with reality and that he would be an absolute disaster in Congress.” ••
