3 Mad Reasons Success is not about money

You need to have your own definition of success. Popular culture would have you define success as having a bank account with lots of zeros behind it.

Understandable, since human behavior is to see the top person, the one with the most, as successful. It’s also the stereotypical view of capitalism. The greedy and filthy rich just chasing after the ultimate dollar.

If you don’t know who I am, my name is Robroy Wiley. I’m a business exit planning strategist. In my conversations with business owners and entrepreneurs, it is inevitable that we will discuss how they define success.

Because their definition of success is ultimately what will trigger them to plan their business exit. Yes, the large sum of money from the sale of the business is an incentive but is not the only driver. Often times it’s a new project to further their mission and purpose in life.

This is so true.

How you define success will have a tremendous impact on your life. That definition of success should not be about how many zeros are in the bank account. It should center on an ideal purpose and mission.

It will make success that much easier. Because people can smell when you are just chasing them for their money. There are plenty of people just chasing after money. Who are always looking for the next big deal. They may have a lot of material possessions but lack strong friendships.

It’s harder for people to get behind a business where the mission and purpose are solely about making money.

I bet, you ask them to define success, it would be how can I make the greatest impact for the good of society.

You may disagree. Your definition of success may be about all the zeros in the bank account. That is fine.
