Lamentation for a Loved One and Memories

After waking from pleasant dreams,
All I remember are sorrowful things.

For when I sleep I can meet with you,
But when I wake, I’m torn in two.

When memories past play lovingly in my hallucinations,
How can I say that I enjoy my conscious actions?

When I think back upon the memories we shared,
Tears fall from my eyes.

Not like the rain that trickles from the sky in spring,
But as the morning dew slides across a rose petal.

For the rose petal is my cheek,
The droplet, a piece of the pain I feel each moment you’re gone.
