Productivity Issues? Not A Problem Anymore

Do you have productivity issues which cause you failure to meet the deadlines quite often? If, yes then you are much like me. I have learned a new technique named Pomodoro from Coursera and I would like to share it with my followers at medium.

The Pomodoro Technique has the following steps,

1. Choose a task

2. Set the timer to 25 minutes

3. Work on the task until the timer rings

4. Put a checkmark on the piece of Paper

5. Take a short break

6. Repeat steps 1–5 until you have 5 checkmarks

7. Take a longer break

Believe me, I tried this technique at my workplace and It worked. Let me share with you my story.

I was asked to prepare the variance analysis report for the month of February 2019 this Friday and I have to submit it by the end of this week.

So around 11:00 am in the morning, I started my Pomodoro assignments. I set the clock and began. After 2 minutes since I started to the assignment, two of my colleagues all the while strolled over to examine separate work ventures. I attempted to wave them away and murmured, “I just began a Pomodoro!” yet they saw me like I was insane and furthermore perhaps somewhat impolite. So I apologized, clarified what I was doing, and then they started asking me to more questions about this technique and the actual Pomodoro was over before it had even begun.

I understood there was no chance to complete it in the current business sitting in my work areas. I needed to avoid distractions and visitors. So I picked my laptop went to the CEO’s office who is on an abroad trip, sat on the couch placed my laptop on the table. In the wake of checking on the strategy again in detail, I set the clock and got the opportunity to work in complete isolation. But in this scenario, there was my phone whose notification bell keeps ringing time after time and urges me to stop working but I refused to lose my nerves and completed much work by the end of those 25 minutes.

I took a small break then, checked the notifications, replied to messages, again set the alarm and started working again. Guess what, I completed the assigned task in much less time and this Pomodoro technique actually increases my productivity.
